Random Acts of Kindness – RAK’s

Write about a random act of kindness you’ve done for someone.

I like to think that I have done a Random Act of Kindness when I send one of my handmade cards to someone who needs some inspiration, sympathy, cheering up, or a thinking of you… you are not alone message.

Does anyone need me to send them a card? Let me know in the comments.

Back in the day – when I was growing up, kindness, was not something we had to think about doing. It was ingrained into our society to just be kind to your neighbor, your family, your pets and those you meet going down the street. My dad was always helping someone who had broken down cars. Every holiday he would go find someone standing on a street corner or a hitchhiker and bring them home to eat dinner. Definitely not recommended in this day and age. Nowadays, kindness is lacking everywhere you go. People are becoming ruder and ruder – in the way they drive, talk to each other. It has definitely become a ‘me only” driven society and not a put each other first society.

A friend of mine just called me in a state of despair. They own mountain property, with a little cabin on it. Sometime this summer, their cabin was broken into and everything was stolen – from sleeping bags, water jugs, the lock off the door, to camping equipment and fire extinguishers. Why would someone do something like that? Nothing is respected anymore or held in esteem. The mountain men of long ago knew that to borrow a cabin during a winter snow storm, was OK to do as long as you left everything the same. The wouldn’t have daren’t stole everything or damaged property.

Let’s make a list – What are some ways to show kindness?

  1. Show respect for others property
  2. Esteem others – if you see the person in line behind you at the grocery store with only a few items, when you have a cartful, let them go first.
  3. See a need and fill it. Dont even ask – just do it. As my husband likes to call it – “Be the first one off the couch”. Just the other day, my three year old grandson came and got my cup and filled it with water, without me even knowing. When he brought it back to me, I was so grateful, cause I was thirsty. The smile on his face when I told him Thank You will stay with me forever – along with his word of “You Welcome!”

What are other ways to show kindness?

I love this poem

The poem above is still one of my favorites… so when I saw that Gingers Corner (on Facebook), was doing another embellishment with the theme being the color Purple, I knew I had to make purple cows.

I got started today… I’m not sure yet if I will group them in twos, or just send one. I don’t know yet.

One of these is not like the other…I don’t like the pink one
