Summer has been good to me. I hope it has been good to you also. I have actually enjoyed the warmer months. I guess because I know that in a few short months icy breezes will blow. However, I do love the ‘Ber months. They are my favorite time of year.
The summer months have been busy with a lot of doctor appts. I have a new endocrinologist – she is great. She put me back on insulin but she gave me a goal of where she wants my blood glucose to be. Started out between 300 and 350 and now it’s between 275 and 325. She is not overdosing me on insulin. I do have to be careful what I eat, cause certain foods can really give me high blood glucose readings.
I hate doing the finger sticks, but I would almost rather do them than the Continuous Glucose Monitor. They keep popping off. My pharmacist put me in a prescription for a Dexcom brand CGM. It is hard to keep motivated doing the finger sticks. My fingers are starting to feel like pincushions.
My other appointments have been with the pharmacist, the nutritionist, a G.I. Doctor, and I just got another colonoscopy/endoscopy done this week. I guess they did a bunch of biopsies, dilated my throat because they found a stricture and removed a precancerous polyp from my lower intestine. I haven’t got results back yet from the biopsies. August will have a few more appointments, mostly follow-ups.
Turning 60 has been rough. My body said, “yep., you are now officially old.”

On a fun note, me and the grandson have done some plant rescuing. We go to the gardening section at Lowe’s or Walmart and find plants that need rescuing. Dying plants that need some extra love. Usually, they are marked down in price to a very low cost. $2 – 3. We bring them home, give them new soil, free their bound roots, and give them a drink of water. We have revived millennial garlic, a jalapeño plant, some petunias, two kinds of tomato plants. Everything is growing and thriving. One tomato plant is starting to grow tomatoes, the jalapeños are getting big. Kim planted some potatoes from potatoes and it is huge. Our bell peppers are growing. Kim planted them from seeds… oh, and did I say, it is all in containers… I love watching the excitement on grandsons face – when he sees the vegetables growing.

Food for Thought – How does a cherry tomato know to only grow to a cherry tomato size and not a beefsteak tomato size? How does the beefsteak tomato know to grow big and juicy and not stay small? Why do humans think they can identify as whatever they want to be – when even the growing vegetables, fruits and flowers know better?
I am still keeping busy making cards. I participated in #KendrasCardMakingChallenge from April – June. She gives us 15 card sketches that we can use to make cards using 6 x 6 pretty papers. Here are the two sets I have made.

So? What has your summer been like? What have you done? Are you looking forward to the ‘Ber months?
Let me know in a comment below.
Until then, enjoy the rest of summer. Before you know the snow will start falling.
Onward then.
Positively and Absolutely, Debbie
