Letting My Grandson Choose My Next Read

I have read 33 books this year. The Month of June, I made a pile of slips of paper, wrote a book title on each one, put them in a tin jar, and started letting the grandson choose which book I should read next. I started this right after finishing Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson.

I had gotten so many great new books, from book club, books that I had bought and books which have been on my shelves for a long time. I was having a hard time deciding which one to read next. Letting grandson choose -proved to be just what I needed. For sure the book he chose, was not what I would’ve chosen. Most of what he chose had been sitting on my shelf for a long time.

The first book he chose was Oryx & Crake – Book 1 of the MaddAddam Trilogy by ; Margaret Atwood – the same author of The HandMaids Tale – Good choice. Why had I left this sitting on my shelf for so long?

The second book was Lost by Gregory McGuire. He is also the author of Wicked and Son of a Witch. It was better than I thought. It was a long book. I guess that is why I left it on my shelf for so long. Way to pick books that I probably wouldn’t have picked.

Third book was The Thirteenth Child… by Erin A. Craig. My first long book with almost 500 pages. 494 pages. Which was probably why I hadn’t read it yet. It turned out to be a good book..

My copy doesn’t have the sprayed edges

Well that takes us through the month of June. Tomorrow’s blog will be the books he chose for me to read in July. I didn’t get a lot read…but I feel like I have had more quality books to read.

If you see a book you would like me to leave a review on – leave me a comment…

Onward then

Happy reading

Positively, Abosolutely, Debbie
