Wow! Time Flies or 4 Sites of Interest

Been awhile since I wrote a blog post – so this is my Monday night rambling…

Kim made Bean, Bacon, Ham and Lentil Soup tonight with cornbread. It was a little heavy on the carbs but for this cold, wintry night it was a bit of really delish comfort food. I didn’t realize, until I made a bet with my fitness trainer this weekend, that beans had so many carbs…They do have a lot of protein but they are also high in carbs. Who knew! My fitness trainer got a $10 gift card to the LifeCafe.

My daughter got the recipe off Pinterest. (I love Pinterest!)

Since I last wrote I have started a booth at Willowstone Antique Marketplace. They sell vintage, new, old, upcycled, recycled, etc. etc. My plan is to build it slowly as I go along with stuff found, bought, created, made and upcycled. Come and visit me. I plan on being there Saturday – February 21st – in the afternoon.

This past week I came across the deal of a lifetime at the Goodwill. They had a desk/hutch that I really liked that needed some tender loving care but overall in really good shape. There were two tags on it – one on the hutch and one on the desk for $39.99. I thought both pieces were $39.99 @, which isn’t bad, I thought. I would spend about $80 for that piece.  I had to wait a few days to get it. When I went back to the store – it was still there and there was one tag on it. The tag said $39.99 – 2 piece set. The whole thing – both pieces – was only $39.99. Are you kidding me, I thought? I love Goodwill. On top of that it was a Monday and all furniture was an additional 10% off. I got both pieces for a little less than $28.00. Can’t wait till I get started on it.

Right now, I am working on refinishing an end table which I bought for $6.99. I will post pictures soon.

I was also contemplating the vegan diet this week – whether it would be good for me or not so good. I am not knocking those who are vegan. More power to them, but I have decided that going vegan is not for me. Partly because of this reason.

Animal protein contains all the essential amino acids in the right ratios. It is important for muscle mass and bone health, to name a few. Vegans don’t get any animal protein, which can have negative effects on body composition

I truly believe that after the Biblical flood – God intended for us to eat meat. Before the flood he didn’t. He told Adam and Eve that he had given them every green plant and herb for food. After the flood, He told Noah that he had given him every green plant and herb and animals for food. (Look it up in Genesis). If you want to eat meat – go for it. Do make sure that it’s antibiotic, hormone free, range fed, and organic as possible though. Same thing with your veggies too – make sure you are getting organic and GMO.

I will stick to my high protein, gluten-free, dairy-free and egg-free diet – only because I am sensitive to those foods and they cause a lot of inflamation in my body – which causes a lot of allergies, asthma, headaches, gut problems, etc. for me. I am happy with it. It’s not all that bad. I can’t complain – Well, I can…but I’m trying to do better. That’s for another blog – another day.

Peace! Merica. : )
