Good Attitude vs. Bad Attitude

Why is it? That sometimes people think I have a bad attitude – when I really have a good attitude?  I don’t get it… My attitude is not bad – OK!!!

Okay – well, whether my attitude is good or bad – how do I tell the difference?

Let’s explore this positive and negative aspects of mindset for a brief moment.

When I have a good attitude – I can be quite friendly, polite, gracious, talkative and kinda fun to be around.

When I have a bad attitude – I can get sarcastic, mean, rude, sullen and withdraw from people – cuz for some reason, people just became annoying.

When I have a good attitude – all of life’s dramas seem to melt away.

When I have a bad attitude – all the little things of life, sore muscles, dogs peeing in the house, traffic, and so on become major dramas.

Today – was a good day for a bad attitude! Positively Debbie was absolutely – not -positive.

But we all have those moments – right? An article in Psychology Today – said that on the average we generate between 25,000 – 50,000 thoughts a day… Wow! That’s a whole lot of thinking going on. How can all of them be positive? Why is it so easy for some people to be happy, bubbly and perky – all the time? Are they seriously, only thinking happy thoughts?

I guess that’s where Phillipians 4:8 comes in handy – (I once had to memorize this for Missionettes)

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—think on these things

That is a good verse to remember whenever I start feeling like a bad attitude is coming on – but it is hard though – so very hard – especially when your muscles are tight and sore and you are in pain. Or when you come home to your house smelling like dog pee and you want nothing more than to give your male Chihuahua away – (which would break his heart) – there is nothing lovely or noble about that.

If only he wasn’t so stinkin adorable

Have you ever noticed – dogs rarely have a bad attitude? My Great Dane – sometimes has a hissy fit – cause she was told to go lay down – but it never lasts for long. She is right back in there – with wanting me to pet her and snuggle with her. She also knows when I’m having a bad attitude and she will try to cheer me up.

Even my Chihuahua – he has no worries about what he pees on… and he still comes running for pets and snuggles and doggie treats…

I’m working on it! I’m working on having a good attitude more often than a bad attitude… Being Positive takes constant work…

So what are some things you do to shift your attitude from negative to positive?

I like to scrapbook and tell my stories – it relaxes me
