I Believe in Flying Pigs

Yesterday, I got a head start on my blog posting. My goal this month is 30 blogs in 30 days – so on to blog post #2.

Today, I had a bad day. One of those days when nothing goes right at the gym and your trainer doesn’t listen to you. I was feeling kinda down in the dumps when I got home from the gym. Knowing that tomorrow I have a Stampin Up meeting, and that I wanted to make a card for the card swaps; I got busy.

I love – love – love the new stamp set This Little Piggie. Why? Because it has a flying pig!!!!!! I am obsessed with flying pigs. I love flying pigs. I sell them in my booth at Willowstone and whenever I see one, I have to buy it. Flying pigs make me happy. When I saw this new stamp set in the new catalog – I knew I had to have it! (See, I told ya, Stampin Up is rockin it this year!)

Another thing that sold me on the This Little Piggie stamp set is a sentiment that says “She knew she could…so she did! I love it! Pigs are not supposed to fly right? Has anybody ever seen a pig fly? That’s why a flying pig stamp combined with the sentiment – she knew she could – describes me so very, very, perfectly.

That’s why I was feeling so down today. I just didn’t feel like it. I was a pig without my wings. My ankle was hurting, I was tired of wearing my boot and my trainer wanted me to do 5 miles on the elliptical or 15 miles on the recumbent bike and I told myself – she could do it – but she’s not gonna – and I came home. I gave up on my workout today – not like me.

So when I sat down to make this card – I knew I had to use the flying pig stamp. It cheered me up. Today might not have been perfect, but that’s okay. Even though sometimes I may feel like a pig – wallowing in the mud – there is always tomorrow when I’m gonna spread my wings and fly – because “she knew she could…so she did.

Here are the cards: IMG_0958This is the first one. I wasn’t too keen on the blue background and the black clouds. Back to the drawing board

Here’s the second card. Getting closer. I like the blended colors… but still something is missing.

IMG_0959Finally, the third one is a charm. I really like how it turned out. I added white clouds to the blended background and cut the sentiment into a banner shape. I got 6 of them done and will make about 6 more tomorrow.

Here’s how it’s done. I used Flirty Flamingo cardstock for the card and Very Vanilla cardstock for the card base. I used Emerald Envy, Dapper Denim and Flirty Flamingo ink pads for the color blending. I blended it together with a sponge.

I stamped the flying pig and sentiment with Basic Black and colored it in with my Stampin Up watercolor markers. I used the clear Wink of Stella on the wings and the hooves. I used White ink to stamp the clouds – (use a very light touch and don’t rock the stamp or you get lines)

I cut the card at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored it at 4 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ side and cut the card base at 5 1/4″ x 4 1/8″

A very simple card to make. I cut the flying piggy out with my Stampin Up snips and used foam dimensions on the back.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I really liked making this card.

Leave me a comment if you would like to see a video of me making this card.

Always remember to be like the flying pig – Believe you can and you will!!!!

I’ll remain

Postively,

Debbie
